CT Volley Dig Volleyball Tournament

Friday, August 7-8, 2021

The Dig is a 3-day volleyball tournament where volleyball players of all skill levels compete for cash, prizes, and most importantly, glory!

Who Can Play?

Literally anyone can participate in The Dig. We’ve got divisions from Juniors & B divisions (for beginners) all the way up to Pro. This is an open registration tournament, all you need is an AVP America membership which is only $15 per year and again is open to anyone and everyone! Spectators also welcome for free – come grab food, drink beer, and watch volleyball!

The Dig is pool play format, followed by a single-elimination playoff. All courts are traditional regulation size 30′ x 60′ “big courts” with rally scoring and no lets allowed. Saturday features Men’s & Women’s tournaments, while Sunday is Reverse Co-ed format (*see the bottom of the “Rules” page for co-ed specific rules).

Check in opens at 7:30AM and closes PROMPTLY at 8:30AM. Pool play will start at 9:00AM.

Divisions:

– Juniors = High School & Younger Players by Fall Entering

– B = Just Starting Out / Playing For Fun / Recreational Players / Younger Players

– A = Little experience. Can adequately bump, set and spike.

– AA = A decent amount of experience. Higher level of play

– Pro/Open = Top players, very experienced, understand the game at the highest level

Once an individual has competed and won a tournament at any respective division in the last 2 years, they must move up a division for this year’s tournament. This carries across Men’s, Women’s & Coed. Teams may also be forced up due to our knowledge of their abilities and at Tournament Director discretion.

The seeding of the tournament (pools) are created exclusively based on Volley America points. This ensures NO bias in creating the pools.

Time/Registration/Format:

– “The Dig” is a 2v2 format.

– Tournaments are located at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center, 22 Iron Horse Boulevard, Simsbury, CT 06070

– Friday is Juniors. Saturday is Men’s & Women’s separately, Sunday is Co-ed

– Check-In opens at 7:30 AM, closes at 8:30 AM and pool play begins promptly at 9:00 AM.

– If you’re late to check-in you will be charged an additional $5 for each player that is late (if we even let you play).

– ***YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE, WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ON-SITE REGISTRATION!***

– You must be an AVP America member to play in the tournament (anyone can be a member).
